You probably have heard about Africa right? Africa is a continent of great people and of course a great place with lots of natural views.
Africa is a centre of adventures, a place of picturesque views made for any travel or tourist from around the world.
This post looks into some of the best waterfalls to visit this summer in Africa.
Victoria Falls
Victoria Falls takes the first spot and is the most famous waterfall in Africa, located at the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. It is one of the best attractions in Africa.
This magnificent view can be seen from Victoria Falls National Park on the Zimbabwean side, or Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park on the Zambian side.
Standing at 5,604 feet wide and 354 feet tall, it’s the world’s largest sheet of falling water. It has its local name, Mosi-oa-Tunya which means “The Smoke That Thunders”.
This waterfall easily beats any other and has served as a tourism hub for millions of people from across the world.
Tugela Falls
South Africa provides a home to the tallest waterfall in Africa, which flows from the lofty heights of the Drakensberg Mountains. This waterfall is the world’s 10thlargest uninterrupted water drop at a staggering 411 meters.
The Tugela falls is located on the Tugela River in South Africa’s Royal Natal National Park and remains a beautiful sight in sunny Africa and attracting many people from across the world who hike its side on numerous trails to the frozen peak!
Unlike some dry years, during peak season, a big volume of water flow drops to its lowest point, creating an amazing spray for everyone to observe.
Lumangwe Falls
The Lumangwe falls is located along the Kalungwishi River in the northern part of Zambia makes our list of outstanding falls in Africa. In peak season it is the country’s largest waterfall with a height of 30-40m and a width of 160m.
Due to its massive volume, broad curtain of water flow, and saturating spray, Victoria Falls is quite similar, even during droughts. This adventure is ideal for those interested in nature tourism. Despite the absence of tourist infrastructure, it is well worth the trip.
Ouzoud Falls
Ouzoud Falls adds to our spectacular list of waterfalls. This waterfall located in Morocco cascade into the El-Abid River, are located in the Middle Atlas Mountains. The falls are named after a phrase that means “to grind grain,” which references the modest mills that stands at the top of the falls and is still very much operational today.
This is one of the most well-known tourist attractions in the region, providing a welcome zone for visitors.
Get a chance to travel through the Atlas Mountains. Witness the magnificent splendor and mighty roars of the Mighty Falls, as well as the splash they produce.
This adventure gives a chance for a boat cruise to the swimming pool at the base of the falls, or a meal at one of the restaurants along the waterfall walkway.
Wli Falls
The Wli Falls stands at about 262 feet high and is the tallest waterfall both in Ghana and in West Africa, locally known as Agumatsa Waterfall, which means “allow me to flow,”. It has higher and lower falls and is surrounded by the tropical Agumatsa Wildlife Sanctuary in the Volta Region.
Wli Falls is at its most amazing from April to October, but could be difficult for visitors who visit at this time as the upper falls may be too slick to safely navigate where as the lower falls are simpler to reach.
